Abstract:
The water is a fundamental natural resource for the existence of life on earth. However, due to some problems, intensified in the last decades, it is becoming increasingly scarce. Thus, as a way of mitigating this problem, treatment and reuse methods have been developed. Due to this, the main of this study was to propose a measure of treatment and reuse of gray water for the rural community called Várzea Comprida dos Oliveiras. The methodology used consisted of on-site visits, use of geoprocessing tools, bibliographic research, information collection with residents through informal interviews and application of questionnaires. In this way, after recognizing the reality of the community, intervention measures were proposed, one of them being the implementation of a simple system of treatment and reuse of gray water, by means of the passage in a filter composed of layers of sand, gravel and rubble, of easy implementation and low cost. However, was tried to present the economic and environmental advantages of adopting the system, and it can be seen that the implementation is feasible under both approaches, since the financial costs are relatively low and the environmental advantages are wide.
