Resumo:
In view of the limitation of forage resources in the semi-arid region during the drought, the concern with regard to animal feed during this period is imminent. Caatinga vegetation, the most important forage resource in the semiarid region, with its plants of high nutritional value, is in turn the alternative considered most viable to complement the animal diet in view of the scarcity of food and the high cost of agricultural inputs. Considering that animal production is related to consumption, nutritional value and the efficiency of use of the available food, which, given the physical-chemical characteristics of the species studied in this research, we can say that they can favor animal feeding, to quote Xanana and the caruru rasteira that showed better results in them. Toxicity tests against Artemia salina Leach larvae from plant extracts belonging to the Paraiba hinterland demonstrate that the species of Bucha-paulistana, Malva-preta, Xanana and Caruru-rasteiro are non-toxic, with the exception of Jitirana.
