Resumen:
An organized, functional and safe computer network is indispensable in large companies
and environments, regardless the type of services provided. A structured cabling is essential
to support applications that are ready to the increasing number of devices that need to
be connected to the Internet, cloud services and the Internet of Things. The objective
of this work is to explain what is a structured cabling, its composition and how to
design and supervise its deployment in a work environment using the Brazilian standard
NBR 14565:2013. A structured cabling project has been elaborated to meet the needs of
the Embedded Systems and Pervasive Computing Laboratory at Federal University of
Campina Grande. The software AutoCAD has been used to elaborate the project and its
specifications. The network diagrams were created using Microsoft Visio. After generating
the documentation, the execution was supervisioned and the results obtained were presented.
We concluded that this kind of project is effective to design high performance computer
networks that are in accordance with the standards.
