Resumo:
In the scenario of growing energy demand and concern for the environment,
there was a need to develop electricity generation technologies, mainly renewable, with
a lower rate of emission of pollutants such as wind, tidal, solar and other sources.
Inserted in this line of research solar photovoltaic appeared as a good option,
considering that it is considered an inexhaustible source of energy and that it has a low
polluting potential in its generation. Therefore, in recent years this energy source has
been showing steady growth, which has come to stand out among the sources of
renewable energy. In some countries such as China, Germany, the United States of
America and Japan this is already a reality due to the high technological investments in
this type of generation and the policies adopted in these countries. In Brazil,
photovoltaic solar energy begins to grow significantly, due to the appearance of its first
auctions and the concept of distributed generation, estimated that in 2020 it will be the
9th country with the largest installed capacity of this form of energy. Therefore, this
work presents the growth related to photovoltaic energy, its installed capacity, the cost
of generation and the number of jobs generated, as well as its growth trend for the
future.
