Resumo:
This work presents a study about the main solar cells, crucial components for the
manufacture of the modules of solar photovoltaic systems, whose technological
development is of extreme importance for an efficient and complementary energy use, so
that modern society enjoys a quality energy that meets the growing world energy demand.
The possible ways of using solar energy are exposed, focusing on photovoltaic use, from
its discovery to the application of the phenomenon in different modern semiconductor
devices. Photovoltaic cells can be manufactured in some types of semiconductor materials
and with different manufacturing techniques, being grouped in modules in parallel or
series, obtaining, with each one, different conversion efficiencies and applications. The
photovoltaic module is a structure that contains several cells arranged so that a desired
power is obtained and at the same time provides the protection of these cells.
