Abstract:
Annually, the Federal Government spends billions of reais on infrastructure works. Despite this, Brazil has accumulated an increasing number of works that are paralyzed and in arrears. That is why it is necessary to improve the quality of projects, planning, cost reduction and inspection of public works. For the development of an engineering
project to be successful it is necessary that all steps are carried out efficiently, avoiding financial and schedule losses. This research aims to verify the benefits of applying BIM methodology in combating irregularities in public works projects, as well as in reducing the generation of contractual additives. To achieve the proposed objective, the BIM methodology was applied to the project of a standard school provided by FNDE, in order to identify incompatibilities and errors in the project, the causes arrears in execution, deficiencies in the project and its additives. All the projects for this project were modeled with the Revit software, for comparative analysis regarding the tools used in the visualization of the model, in the planning and in the preparation of the
project. The BIM methodology proved to be efficient to achieve more accurate project, since the model generated stores all the information for the cost survey. In addition, it allows visualization of constructive details and identification of interferences in the project, which reduces the problems of deficient design. For planning, BIM increases the probability of executing works with better quality and controlling contracted terms and, later, facilitates inspection.
