Abstract:
In this paper a mathematical model was developed for a flow sensor in the context
of Industry 4.0. The modeling of the sensor is essential to determine its calibration curve,
establishing the relation between the variables of interest, volume and number of pulses.
The model was determined using the least squares method. The application of this method
allows to obtain the estimation of the parameters of the line of simple linear regression,
so that the error associated with the estimator is the smallest possible. Thus, it is possible
for the ESP8266 microcontroller to calculate the data with greater accuracy. The
information was processed by NodeMCU and transmitted over the internet to a cloudbased
online application, Thingspeak®. The idea used in this paper, the sensor and the
mathematical model can be applied to the utilities sector, specifically in the water supply
associated with the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution or Industry 4.0. As
NodeMCU is a Internet of Thing device, it is possible to integrate them with other
information systems and to enable managers and consumers to monitor water
consumption remotely through the internet.
