Resumen:
Renewable energies are increasingly used in the world. Wind energy, in
evidence in this work, together with investments from other sources can reconcile the
energy needs of a society, replacing methods that harm the environment, such as fossil
fuels. Faced with such relevance and ample opportunities in the wind energy sector, the
present work presents a study of the economic viability in the construction of a wind
farm in the state of Pernambuco, exposing the main parameters used based on rates of
financing and values provided by the manufacturers. Initially a general explanation was
made about the mechanism of formation of the winds, factors that influence its regime:
roughness, height, etc. As well as the technology used in wind turbines and their control
mechanisms. Next, the Brazilian wind potential, together with the installed capacity and
the aspects related to each region, is evidenced. Finally, the economic factor in the
construction of the wind farm is analyzed, evaluating the costs and the Internal Rate of
Return (IRR) of the investment made.
