Resumo:
The theme of this work is the relationship between families and schools located in peripheral neighborhoods in the city of Cajazeiras, state of Paraíba (PB), in the perception of teachers who work in those schools. Thus, the research problem was: What is the perception of teachers about the relationship between family and school in the context of the peripheries of the city of Cajazeiras / PB.? In order to answer that question, the general objective of this research was to understand the relationship between family and school in the context of peripheries in Cajazeiras / PB. And as for the specific objectives, they were: to identify the influence of social context in the school community; analyze the dialogue between families and the school in peripheral neighborhoods, and to reflect about the teachers’s perception about the family role in the school education of their children. The methodology chosen for the development of this work was a qualitative approach. We collected data from the discourses of this research subjects, teachers who teach in schools located in the northern, southern, eastern and western peripheries of Cajazeiras / PB. The data were obtained through Google forms, that were sent by email to the participating teachers. So, based on the participants’s answers, we realized thatthesocial context can influence the teaching and learning process of students from periphery, and that the family has a very important role in this process, when establishing a cooperative relationship with school, contributing with children education. It is worth mentioning that some difficulties faced in process are resulted from the lack of adequate conditions for teaching in peripheral schools, and that the continuing education of teachers is still a challenge to be overcome today.
