Resumo:
The use of natural resources has been rooted in world culture, since time immemorial. In Brazil, the use of medicinal plants and herbal medicines is quite widespread, especially among the most vulnerable classes, due to problems such as lack of access to medical appointments, high price of allopathic medicines, among others. It is noteworthy that in most cases the use of medicinal plants occurs autonomously, without consultation with a properly trained health professional, resulting in damage to health and intoxications. With the introduction of phytotherapy / medicinal plants in the Unified Health System (SUS) through Complementary Integrative Practices (PIC) and the National Policy on Medicinal Plants and Herbal Medicines (PNPMF), a small change was observed in this scenario, requiring further studies on this situation area. In view of the above, the present study aimed to conduct a bibliographic research on typical medicinal plants in Northeastern Brazil, addressing the medicinal plants that have been most cited in recent years in the literature, reporting the importance of these plants and reporting the guidelines provided for in the prescription resolutions pharmaceutical plant. The search for references occurred in the scielo, google academic databases, capes journals and in the national health committees. It was found that the medicinal plants most cited in the literature from 2015 to 2020 were Melissa officinallis (Erva Cidreira, Melissa), Cymbopogon citratus (Capim Santo), Lippia alba (Erva Cidreira). At the end of this study, the importance of using medicinal plants for the health of the Northeasterners was evident, being a traditional practice, passed from generation to generation, used by people of all social classes, being more prevalent in communities with less financial resources and hard access. The current legislation on medicinal plants and herbal medicines is quite complete, and provides support for the prescription and pharmaceutical indication, among other duties.
