Abstract:
WiMax is a long distance, high data rate wireless communications technology that
operates in millimeter wave frequency bands and allows the use of some performance
enhancement techniques such as Adaptive Antenna Systems (AAS). These systems can
act in several possible ways, among them is the change in the directivity of an antenna
according to the input signal, which allows to provide a maximum power in a certain
direction of propagation (beamforming). This work presents the development of the
design of a smart antenna with operation in 5.8 GHz composed of a Butler Matrix 4x4
and planar antenna printed on substrate FR4 for the accomplishment of the beamforming
technology.
