Abstract:
The electrolytic capacitor, an electronic component widely used in various industrial applications,
has some limitations such as: estimated life in 5000 hours, failures in its manufacturing
process and problems that affect its equivalent series resistance can reduce
its capacitance. Thus, it is interesting that inverters do not use capacitors, in order to
extend their useful life, and can be connected to photovoltaic systems, which have an
estimated useful life of 25 years. Thus, the present work makes a study of a three-phase
multilevel inverter with pulsating DC-link and clamped diode. The inverter also presents
an unconventional modulation strategy that reduces losses by switching.
