Resumo:
In this paper it is presented a statistical analysis of the COVID-19 pandemic impacts in
the brazilian electricity sector. To make this analysis, it was used official data from the
Health Ministery of Brazil and from the Electrical System National Operator (ONS,
abrev. in PT). The database of Charge per Hour (GWh), Storage Energy (GWh) and
Marginal Operational Coast (R$/MWh) of the electricity sector and the new weekly cases
of COVID-19 in Brazil were collected to be analyzed statistically, based on the Pearson
correlation coefficient. The calculous was made in different time windows and with
multiple variables, enabling the analasys of the electricity sector behavior during the
COVID-19 pandemic. With this, it was observed that the impact of the pandemic had
different characteristics along the time, having more influence in the charge in the
beginning of the pandemic and falling along the period. This method of analysis offers a
potential use to plan answers in case of another worldwide impact phenomenon.
