Resumen:
This study aimed to carry out educational actions to prevent obstetric violence and encourage
the role of women in the context of labor. It is an exploratory-descriptive field study with a
qualitative approach, mediated by action research. Initially, a semi-structured interview was
conducted with pregnant women from the Basic Health Unit studied in order to identify the
gaps in their knowledge, and later, for the analysis of the statements, the Collective Subject
Discourse has been used. This study made it possible to observe that pregnant women are
unaware of the term “Obstetric Violence” itself, but a large part of them can identify which
violence the woman is susceptible to during the labor, including some who have been victims
of neglect and violence during previous birth labor. Before it, the planning and
implementation of three educational activities was developed as a possibility of solving the
problems evidenced in the situational diagnosis. Active methodologies were used to provide
the interaction between the participants and the researcher, in order to facilitate the
construction of the knowledge that has originated the fourth phase of the study which was
related to the evaluation of actions. Finally, it was possible to observe that the educational
actions have made the promotion of obstetric health possible with reflexions of this process
on the individual-collective while contributing to improve knowledge about obstetric violence
and the rights that pregnant women have during labor. In addition it allows pregnant women
to take an active role within the moment they meet and become multipliers of knowledge in
their collective.
