Environmental perception can be understood as the way in which individuals
understand their surrounding environment and ·)S different modes of relationship that they
keep with nature. It is influenced by the experiences and interest of each
individual with the different details of the environment and their level of involvement
with nature. The objective of this work was to study the environmental perception of students
from the elementary education of two public schools to the municipality of Cuité, in the State of
Paraíba, on human impacts nor:; Local e-systems and their state of
conservation. So do we. we check how the values: humans can explain
attitudes, beliefs and environmental concern. The t~study was carried out in November
201 0, with randomly selected elementary school students (n = 30),
using serr.i-·structured questionnaire containing 11 questions about different
environmental aspects of the city of Cuité. Data~: about sex, age, parent's occupation,
place of residence (urban or rural), and if they raised any kind of animals in their
residences were also obtained. Students (~n interviewed were divided into three
groups: A, B and C. Group A provided more adequate answers about the biome
Caatinga, while no student from group C provided similar answers. THE.
the majority of students (90% in all groups) said that Cuité is one in the city
pleasant and peaceful, although many of those interviewed reported a lack of attractions
cultural in the city and precariousness of the system. dr.;:: local health All of them showed up

activities aimed at the recovery of degraded environments. 50 of students
interviewees in group A and 60~-ó in group C rec,) knew the municipality of Cuité as
well preserved, while 60% of group B students responded

said Cuité's natural environment has influences on its survival. At
