This research was motivated by the importance of identifying and analyzing the
contributions and shortcomings of academic training for teaching practice in everyday
alumni of the undergraduate program in Biological Sciences and the Center for Health
Education, Federal University of Campina Grande — CES / UFCG. The university
expansion in Brazil carne with the goal of democratizing access to higher education, and
also train professionals to meet the demand especially in the countryside. In the case of
CES experienced the challenges of teacher education in a context of expansion.
Therefore, this research carne from the need to evaluate the work of a young campus, in
the context of university expansion in a region devoid of teachers in the sciences of
nature, that among many absences have teacher training with parallel activity to the
development of research in hard areas of Biological Sciences mischaracterize somehow
the degree course. Our research intends to investigate this universe through the speech
of teachers. The results showed that the university has a significant importance in our
academic and professional providing a learning experience in many ways unique and
effective, but with some difficulties in articulating the theoretical and practical
performance. T hus. the results demonstrated that teacher training is globally according
to an idealized model applicationist knowledge, where students attend some classes of
disciplines that are essential for propositional theories. It is necessary for universities to
offer its teachers with the challenge of rethinking the " good teaching" and construct new
paradigms for student learning. It was found that most teachers did not intend to follow
in education and over time were identifying themselves with the area and are now
teachers of Science and Biology. The study was aimed at analyzing some point and
points in this formation giving space for teachers to demonstrate in their statements on
the possible absences course so that we can improve it.
