Resumo:
Euphorbiaceae is among the leading families of
flowering plants that make up the Caatinga ecosystem undertaking several ecological
roles and contributing significantly to local biodiversity. The Horto Florestal Olho
D'Água da Bicais an area of 75ha of steppe savanna trees
with a significant representation of the genus Croton. The aim of this study was to
survey the species of the genus Croton L. witch occur in the Horto Florestal Olho
D'Água of Bica and that were collected in the study area during the period of
June 2010 to June 2011. The material was treated according to usual procedures in
floristic works and deposited in the herbarium CES (in formation) of the Federal
University of Campina Grande. As a result were described six species of the genus,
Croton argyrophyllus Kunth, Croton campestris A. St.Hil., Croton glandulosus L.,
Croton heliotropiifolius Kunth, Croton hirtus L'Her. and Croton virgultosus Müll. This
paper also presents identification key, illustrations and comments on the geographic
distribution and the similarities among species.
