Resumo:
The academic environment experiences many challenges during the SARS-CoV-2
pandemic. The sum of events and prevention decisions linked to the pandemic, besides the
consequences linked to the contamination of the virus itself, has produced responses in
people's mental health and raised awareness of health-related problems. The objective is to
investigate the mental health of university students who practiced social or physical isolation
during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic; to map "mental disorders" in quarantined university
students (physical or social isolation) against the new coronavirus; to know strategies to
support self-care in mental health and students' crisis. This is a narrative, quali-quantitative
and investigative approach. The publications were searched in known and respected research
platforms, PUBmed, VHL Regional Health Portal and Academic Google with the keywords
"Covid-19", "psychological consequences", "mental health", "students", "university students",
"coronavirus", "mental health", "university student", "psychological consequences" and
"social distancing", through the use of the Boolean operator "AND. The selected articles
passed through inclusion and exclusion criteria, and at the end the sample was composed by
06 studies. The results showed that during this pandemic period there was a very significant
increase of university students with psychological desires, such as anxiety, depression, stress,
fear, impotence, uncertainty, discouragement, anguish, loneliness, altered mood and apathy.
As well, the need for strategies to support institutional and government care. We concluded
that the physical distancing and the pandemic led to negative results in the students' mental
health. We identified the concern of educational institutions to provide moments of interaction
in a remote way among the students themselves, in an attempt to reduce damage and improve
the level of resilience in facing the pandemic.
