Abstract:
Among the stresses in the plant caused by abiotic factors, water stress stands out for being common in ecosystems and for causing serious dysfunctions in plants. In recent years, the number of techniques and research has been growing in order to optimize the use of water, as well as providing resistance to water stress. Among the techniques used, the use of bacteria that promote plant growth and those that provide mechanisms of resistance to abiotic stresses are notorious. The objective of this study was to evaluate the growth and production of green corn under the influence of products containing plant growth promoting bacteria or cobalt plus molybdenum. The experiment was carried out in an area under Neossolo Flúvico, belonging to the Experimental Farm of UFCG/CCTA, in the municipality of São Domingos de Pombal - PB, between the months of August and December 2019. The experimental design used was the subdivided plots with the main factor corresponding to four irrigation depths (40; 60; 80 and 100% of ETo), the secondary factor, corresponding to four water stress mitigating treatments (Control, Biobaci, No-Nema + Azokop and Co + Mo). The variables were evaluated: leaf area index, stem diameter, plant height, height of the ear insertion, fresh weight of the leaves, stem, straw with and without straw, diameter of the ear, total fresh weight and efficiency of the water use. The Biobaci product stood out in the largest irrigation depths, increasing the production of fresh vegetative mass, the production of green ears and the efficiency of water use. Under more severe water stress, the Co + Mo and NoNema + Azokop products provided better performance of green corn in terms of growth, fresh phytomass production and ear production. The tested products have the potential to attenuate water stress in green corn AG 1051, especially products based on plant growth promoting bacteria Biobaci and NoNema + Azokop with emphasis on Biobaci.
