O projeto ético-político do serviço social em debate: desafios e perspectivas à sua materialização.

Abstract

This paper deals with the ethicalpolitical project of Social Service and the main challenges posed to its materialization. The study proposal is the result of the discussions raised by the disciplines of the historical and theoreticalmethodological foundations of Social Work, as well as personal inquiries about what is and how this project materializes in the daily work of professionals. To do so, we rescued the sociohistorical constitution of this, since it was generated from the societal transformations engendered by the economic, political, social and cultural particularities of the Brazilian reality. Such transformations led to the need for renewal of Social Work, since this profession is required by the State to respond to the expressions of the social question. It is pertinent to analyze that the said project has, undoubtedly, a commitment to the construction of a new corporate order, that is, an order beyond capitalist society. From the perspective of the proposed discussions, the study was based on qualitative exploratory research, whose subjects were three social assistants who work in the Social Assistance of the municipality of Santa Cruz/PB, aiming at apprehending and problematizing how they understand the professional project and how this project materializes in the daily practice of the professional. Data collection was done through a semistructured questionnaire. The method used was the criticdialectic, understanding that it gives us greater solidity and theoretical support for the unraveling of the real in its multiple determinations, transcending its phenomenal aspects. The result of the research was revealing that there is a relative understanding of the professional project of the Social Service, as well as the presence of elements that evidence the misconception of said project, as if it were presented in a tangible way. In addition, we identify that the contemporary scenario is imbued with challenges to the materialization of such a project.
