Resumen:
Reading goes beyond just decoding the language. It is a much broader process, since it involves the production of meanings. By this bias, the main objective of this work is to report the experiment carried out at the Escola Cidadã Integral Técnica Coronel Jacob Guilherme Frantz from a project of reading and textual interpretation. To make this possible, we discussed concepts about reading conceptions, focusing on the strategies prioritized during the implementation of the project at school; we reported the experience of the project From book to book we build the future; and finally, we wrote the contributions to the development of reading promoted by the project developed at the school. For this report, we are based on Textual Linguistics, bringing considerations about the conceptions of reading according to Koch and Elias (2010) and Zappone (2001), and about the reading strategies discussed according to Solé (1998), in addition to the guidelines on classroom reading described in the National Common Curricular Base in Brazil (2018). The kind of this research is ex-post facto, as it is an experience report, and its approach is qualitative. As a result, we highlight: the increased frequency of students in the school library looking for books to read; the improvement in the reading skills of the participants of the project; the contribution to the increase in the average of the Basic Education Development Index - IDEB, from 2.9 to 4.1.
