Resumo:
Due to the enormous productivity and efficiency imposed by the current scenario of civil
construction, the use of specific software for the production of structural projects is so
indispensable. Thus, the availability of programs is increasingly increasing, because today the software is much more complex and complete, providing more realistic analyzes of structural behavior. Thus, the objective of the study is to carry out the structural dimensioning of a building and to compare the manual method with the automated method using the TQS software. In this context, information technology has come to improve and facilitate Structural Engineering, and never replace it. It is essential to be aware that software for structural design purposes is only a tool to assist the professional responsible for it. It is essential to have knowledge of manual calculations that enable the verification of the main results exposed by this software in a way that can enable the engineer to analyze the expected results in order to avoid expressive errors. In this way, the structural dimensioning of a multifamily building was carried out using manual, approximate and flat portico methods, and the computational method using software using grids and spatial portico. In the study, significant differences were found in the analysis of the methods and also in the results of the structural elements, where the program dimensioned 16% more steel than the manual method.
