In view of the importance that the railway modal had for the municipality of Pombal-PB, providing in the past economic, social and cultural growth in the region. The Department of Sports Culture and Tourism of the city of Paraíba plans to carry out the reactivation of a small section of the railway line located in the municipality. Thus, it is essential for this to happen, the execution of studies that point out the real situation of this stretch. Thus, the present work sought to identify the different types of pathologies that affect the elements of the superstructure of the permanent track, in a stretch located between the old railway station and the Red Bridge, totaling 4.5 km in length. For this, it was decided to divide the section into nine 500 meter sub-sections each, and thus carry out an on-site survey, with the photographic record of the pathologies found and the measurements made in the geometry of the road. Thus, it was possible to identify a total of 392 pathologies, the most recurring of which: the incidence of excessive vegetation in the area of the track, the absence or insufficiency of granular material called ballast, the defects found in the tracks, sleepers, fixings and railway joints , and the pathologies presented by the geometry of the road. In addition, it was found that pathological manifestations were found in all nine subsections, with an average of 43.55 problems per subset. Finally, it was possible to verify that the examined route is quite worn, presenting anomalies in all the elements of the superstructure of the permanent track, which imposes the observation that to occur a possible recovery of the railroad, it will be necessary to repair some defective elements , or even replace them.
