Resumen:
The urban problems arising from the poor planning of cities are linked to the environmental impacts that are caused as a result of this process. Many impacts are associated with garbage on the streets, deforestation, rising temperatures, pollution, soil waterproofiness and flooding. In order to avoid or mitigate the impacts resulting from the flooding episodes in urbanized areas, reducing risks and losses, drainage infrastructure measures and works are designed, which aim to make up for the anthropic changes made to the environment and provide a proper disposal of rainwater. This work aimed to carry out a hydrological study in an urban basin in the city of Pombal-PB and to propose the design of a macrodrainage channel through an engineering project. For hydrological studies, the Gumbel Distribution, the Huff method and the Santa Barbara method were used. The hydraulic dimensioning was performed considering the section of minimum wetted perimeter. The chi-square test applied to the rain equation showed good results. Although the basin had a large permeable area, peak flows were high, probably because the area of the basin is quite extensive. The dimensioning by the minimum wetted perimeter led to a depth with a substantial dimension for the local reality. Throughout this work, it was noticed a lack of technical standards and master plans that involve urban drainage.
