Resumo:
This research seeks to study the culture and tradition of the Caboclos Dance, also
known in the region of Major Sales-RN as Malhação de Judas. in other regions
of the country it presents different aspects of the perspective which I propose works.
In the city of Major Sales/RN this tradition is lived intensely since the end
from the 20th century to the 21st century. Through this study we can understand how
a tradition takes root socially, even though it undergoes changes throughout
decades and still today touches the imagination and daily life of a large part of the
population of even though we need to unravel the social change of habits and even
even eventual changes of meaning attached to it. After 90 years the tradition
of dance, which is configured in a specific song with appropriate costumes and
choreography, also has the ritual of asking for alms that take place preserving the
same traces initially used in 1924. This work seeks to understand how something
that seemed just a Christian tradition made only in Holy Week became a
festival known in the northeast region, how it became the benchmark of the city and how
shaped the perception of this culture in these inhabitants who annually experience the
competition. That said, I propose to think about how this cultural experience lives
and more actively affects many members of the community.
