Resumo:
This paper discusses the importance of reading practice, a task essential to the
construction of knowledge. Here I emphasize the ers~ect ve and effort of teaching in
the Escola Pública Estadual Vidal de Negreiros in cidade de Cuité-PB and
commitment to improving the school performance by always encouraging the
practice of reading. Thus, as a teacher of Portuguesa language at this institution, I
developed a study aiming to reflect on how the development of reading and
interpretation of texts in the classroom in this school happens. The narrativa research
method was used. Articulating my professional background and theoretical concepts
I describe activities with students such as a project that involved various literary
gemes, with the active participation of school and community, obtaining satisfactory
results compared to what we expected from our students. Even though I believe in
the lack of interest students have in reading, the reflection made in this worl< led me
to realize that in everyday school life, teachers and students of the school where I
work have been absorbed in constant reading, both reading of the world and readmg
and te>ct production in various languages, corresponding to the theoretical
assumptions of this monograph.
