Resumo:
The population growth of elderly is a worldwide phenomenon and, in Brazil
this event occurs in an accelerated way, which products necessities and social demands that
require appropriated politics answers of State and society. Currently, people that arrive in
aging phase, in full senescence, assume the task o f taking care and most o f them show some
health problem that result in limitation of the autonomy and independence. Objective:
Revealing the repercussions in everyday life of elderly caregiver elderly. Methodology: The
study is an integrative review done in the Health Virtual Library, in data bases such as
SciELO, Bdenf and Lilacs, in online periodicals. With the use of descriptors: elderly
caregiver, dependent elderly and caregiver, elderly caregiver and elderly were found 183
scientific works. The sample was defined with the use o f variables to the filter o f the articles
and the adoption o f inclusion and exclusion cri teria. When selected 16 articles o f the uni verse,
we have downloaded them in Portuguese language with complete texts and with free access.
In inclusion criteria, we have used only those that concem in the essence about caregiver and
elderly. In exclusion criteria, we have considered researches with adult caregiver. In this
perspective, all ofthe articles were explored to answer the tollowing guiding question: Which
repercussions in everyday life of elderly caregiver elderly? Results: With the analysis of the
selected material in 2006 to 2013 period, the authorship of the articles the major part are
nurses, adding thirteen (81% ); the qualitative approach shows itself with higher índices 11
(63%); that between 2006 to 2009 years, four years, there was the publication of twelve
articles (72% ). After the thorough reading o f the researches conclusion, surfaced four
categories: Situation that led the elderly to become a caregiver; Comprehension of what is
health and take care to elderly caregiver; Changes of everyday life in assuming the place of
caregiver; and Tasks more difticult in everyday life of caring to elderly. Final
Considerations: Family is the base of all and when we are in old age, it is the moment that
we need more attention of this support nucleus. Point out, therefore, that Family's Health
Strategies, as well as, governmental organs and health politics promote education in health to
give support to elderly caregivers since that they receive orientations and information to take
care in conformity to the elderly's necessities functionally dependent, often in prolonged
periods. It is important that the health professionals are prepared to this growing demand. 1t is
necessary strategies to have a good interpersonal relationship among caregivers, elderlies and
elderlies' family, promoting a care with quality.
