Leprosy is a dermatosis infectious contagious chronic caused by Mycobacterium leprae. It shows affinity with skin cells and peripheral nerves. It is a serious public health problem due to their high disabling power. The aim of this study was to identify the clinical and epidemiological profile of new cases of leprosy reported in the city of CajazeirasPB in the period from 2012 to 2014. It is a crosssectional study of secondary base, descriptive with quantitative approach used himself to STROBE strategy for its description. Held from the data of 125 patients, contained in the fiche notification / investigation of the National System of notification of grievance Information (SINAN). Research is a division of the study entitled "assistance Accessibility to Health Services for People with Disabilities Arising from Leprosy", approved by the Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Campina Grande PB, an opinion Nº1.421. 681, according to Resolution 466/12 of the National Council of Ethics in Research. It was found that the city had 125 reported cases, 69 (55.2%) in 2012; 30 (24.0%) in 2013; and 26 (20.8%) in 2014; to 118.0 detection coefficients; 51.3; and 44.4 / 100,000 inhabitants, respectivelyOf the cases studied 55.2% were male; 56.8% of them are of mixed race / color; 88% lived in urban areas; 36.8% had not finished elementary school; 18.4% was a homemaker; 42.4% were diagnosed by spontaneous demand; 52.0% had negative sputum smears; predominance of multibacillary operationally by 46.4%; but with a predominance of paucibacillary regimen in 47.2%; 26.4% had some degree of disability at diagnosis, 23.2% of grade I; and grade II high of 7.2% and 11.2% developed type reaction I. Notes that the Cajazeiras municipality is considered hyperendemic for leprosy, highlighting the need to intensify prevention and early identification of leprosy and the degree of disability at the beginning of treatment and high drug associated with the ongoing evoluationf the same in order to prevent physical disabilities and possible complications, so it is necessary to recognize the clinical and epidemiological profile of the general population and particularly of people with leprosy by health professionals, therefore, it is important to act improvement in realized and training in this subject records.
