Abstract:
Since the discovery of the frrst case of AIDS in 1981, this disease has become an epidemic
with global and dynanúc phenomena. Representing one of the most important infectious
diseases in the current context, AIDS has been the subject of numerous discussions in the
scientific community to halt the big spread that shows complex by exposing a rather unstable
character. In an attempt to control the population exposure to the virus severa! techniques
have been used. During the prenatal period, the supply o f HIV rapid test is one o f the methods
used for early detection of vírus infection and possible treatment when the outcome is
positive. To be done effectively, since this test is not required, MS recommends that the pre
and post-test is performed whose aim isto rescue the peculiarities of pregnant women, with
the intention that they see themselves as independent oftheir own health and able to change it.
In this study, we sought to evaluate the perception of pregnant women who underwent rapid
HIV testing in the Family Health Unit of the municipality of Cuité-PB on the counseling
process, pointing out the strengths and weaknesses o f this procedure. This study is exploratory
and descriptive qualitative approach. After registration of the project in PLATBR, the same
was referred to the etrucs committee for consideration and approval after data collection was
pt:rformt:d. Voluntarily participated in the 24 (twenty four) pregnant women who received
regular prenatal FHS in the said municipality. These were individually interviewed, his
recorded speeches and later transcribed. The empirical material was analyzed by means of
content analysis, the thematic. The results were discussed from the Central Theme Unit
entitled "The vision of the women on the rapid HIV test" where there were two categories of
study: "The completion of the HIV testing: pregnant women giving voice" and "Praxis
counseling in practice, "whose discussions led to realize the limitations of the service with
regard to the completion of counseling. It is proposed to train technical professionals, so that
they can play the role of advisors, as recommended by the MS, in order to improve the quality
o f care provided.
