This paper aims to look analytically the space of the late XIX Century to 1930. This time snippet is given for the study of religiosity of Protestant Christian religiosity which has its starting point in the Sertão* area of Paraiba with the arrival of the first Protestant foreign religious missionaries in the late nineteenth century, being sent by their religious institutions to implant in this region its first religious services and temples. Authors such as José Otávio de Arruda Melo, Gonzaga Rodrigues and José Permínio Wanderley, say that religiosity in the Sertão* of Paraiba, in the nineteenth century, was already ingrained in the culture of the people of this region very strongly, linked to Christianity Roman Catholic line, and being the idea reiterated the researched documentation when the implantation of Protestant Christianity in this region. We worked in this research using literature and oral sources in which we analyzed the Paraíba’s Sertão* specifying the towns of Patos, Catolé do Rocha, Brejo dos Santos, Cajazeiras and Pombal, because of the importance of historical moments found in these towns which were showed very significant in the analysis related to the insistence amid difficulties that the pioneers of the Protestant religion experienced in the same when inserting religion in this region.
