Resumo:
The present study aims to present discussions about the use of the machine translation tool of
Google Translate as technological didactic apparatus in the teaching and learning of English
Language, and propose a sequence for its applicability. First of all, a brief historical
methodological course on teachinglearning
of foreign language and possible translational
practices in these methods in the classroom is made. Therefore, some reflections will be
directed on the current perspectives of the teaching of the translation in the classes of English
Language. Then, it will review some questions about the advent of technology in the school
environment as well as the importance of working with such resources in the classroom.
Emphasis is given to the arrival of technology in Translation Studies and its developments,
such as the field of translation and technology which gave rise to the subarea
of machine
translation and translation tools. Finally, a Didactic Sequence will be proposed, which will
include activities that include: the machine translation of Rapunzel's short story, the postediting
of these translations, review, social and cultural discussions. Thus, it is a
bibliographical research whose theoretical contribution is based on the principles of Alfaro
and Dias (1998), Leffa (1988), Branco (2014), Brown (2001), Mossop (2014), Paiva (2008),
Marcuschi (2008), Niño (2004), Dolz, Noverraz and Schneuwly (2004), among others.
