and Music, from Ancicnt Grcerc, in which will be approachcd some musical sca.lcs. It
is known through historical facts that PitÃjgoras was the first to begin thts process
of studics where it involvcd Mathcmatics and Music togcthcr with its studcnts. It
was even onc of his pupils, Ardütas. who \\'Ould have defined music as onc of the four
mathematical scienccs to bc• taught in Europc in thc t-.Iiddlc Ages. This work lrles to
prcsent in a simple way some interactions bctwccn t-.1athematics and Musit, making
an analysis of the some mu.'lical proportions that hclp in the observation of thc musical
scalc Pythagorean and its p~trticularitics, through t he study of the monochord. Wc will
also introducc the conccpl and advantagcs of lhe tempcrcd scale, thc onc tha.l is used
by Wcstcrn musicians today. We also intend lo analyzc thc process of construclion of
some musical scalcs, among them, thc scalcs modes usrd in Ancient Grccce, bascd on
intcgcr ratios and thc Tcmpcred Scalc, wirlrly uscd in westcrn music.
