Brazil is going through intense social, political, economic and cultural . presenting in a fast-
paced new challenges and opportunities for growth for the population . In this reality.
education is included as a powerful instrument of modernization and social advancement.
This paper aims to reflect on the historical process o f the education o f youth and adults ( EJA)
in Brazil , focusing in particular on the creation and implementation o f this type of education
in the School Site Council buckthom Cuité - PB . The survey also aimed to identify the
pro file of students benefited by EJA at the school and the importance of education for the best
performance in their professional activity. The research began with a literature review,
documentary, descriptive and interpretative. The instruments used were questionnaires
administered to students and teacher mode EJA active in the school in question. The result
showed that the students interviewed are aware of the importance of systematic knowledge
will have on their lives, but also in the work itself, which will enable the improvement of
career advancement or professional seeking a better opportunity. And that despite ali lhe
difficulties faced by these students, we should encourage them to maintain perseverance in
seeking the school and continue the trajectory student one day interrupted by several factors.
Regarding the teacher, through this research, we observed that it is difficult to find
professionals really prepared to act in the EJA, but also there is a great concern of higher
education institutions with academic training toward this educational segment. However, we
must strengthen the teacher despite not being trained specifically for adult education, is
committed to the education of youth and adults. The teacher needs to be valued for that
education has a higher quality. If this big jump occurs, there is the possibility of building a
just society, criticai and competent individuais.
