Abstract:
This work presents the development of a new multiport Current Source Converter - MPCSC. First, some applications for the MPCSCs are presented. Once established the scenarios, the study aims to develop a new Current Source Converter that can satisfy the problems that were presented. Since this works proposes a new Current Source Converter, a review of the simplest Current Source topology is presented, comparing it with the Voltage Source topology. A study of the particularities of the PWM modulation, types of switches, and design is presented. This stage ends with the implementation of a single phase Current Source Converter operating in closed-loop. It also discusses the evolution of the study of the Multiport Current Source Coverters, starting from the simples topology, going through intermediate topologies that contributed to the understanding of this type of converter, culminating at the proposed converter in this work. Simulation results and experimental results, in open loop, validate the topologies and the presented PWM strategies. Finally, a more detailed study of the proposed converter is presented, by presenting it as a Frequency Inverter. Starting from a basic control loop, Which is a basic for most of the presented scenarios, simulation and experimental results are presented to reinforce de converter feasibility.
