Resumen:
In this work, two associations of power converters using the partial power processing
concept (PPP) are analyzed. The first one, referred as cascaded PPP, focus on reducing the
amount of power being processed by the converters, allowing more power to flow directly to
the output. The next one, called parallel PPP, intends to increase the efficiency of the PV system
for low input power values, flattening the efficiency curve over the whole input power range.
A comparative analysis is realized between the proposed associations and the simple PPP. Both
systems were designed under the same specifications, using power converters based on twoswitch
forward topology. Simulation results are obtained using a detailed loss model
implemented in Matlab-Simulink. A prototype of a 480W PV system was built to validate the
loss model. The results show an improvement of 1.11% in its weighted efficiency in comparison
with the simple PPP approach.
