Abstract:
The main objective of this work was to determine the social-environmental vulnerability and its probable risks in marginalized socially places in the city of Campina Grande, Paraíba State: Case study of the Teimosos Village, contributing for an improvement of the public and environmental management in the area. For data collection it was utilized ground visits, photographs and questionnaires to determine the social, economical and environmental vulnerability. The vulnerability was determined using the methodology proposal by Rocha (1997). The results of the research show that the Teimosos Village presents high social, economical and environmental vulnerability of 71,8% and 100% respectively. The high environmental vulnerability occurs due the degradation provoked by main risks indicators observed through questionnaire and ground visits in the Villa: domestic solid residue disposal, degradation of soil by the erosion process, sewers that are thrown directly on soil, farming exploration, residences conditions and flooding
risks. It was observed that the public management in the Teimosos Village depends basically of the public management and of the resident community collaboration. Therefore, this work offers important subsidies to the public politics planning, when identifying and characterizing the vulnerability levei of the Teimosos Village, that may be the politics target and also getting significant results in the vulnerability reduction, since the number of families of the Teimosos Village is not so big.
