Abstract:
With the growth in the search for products of organic origin, due to the benefits brought to
human health, the environment and society as a whole, there is a need to analyze the profile of the consumer and his perceptions in relation to these foods. This work aims to know the profile of these consumers, their habits and the relevant aspects in the purchase decision. The research adopted a qualitative and quantitative approach and was carried out in six municipalities in Paraíba, aiming to obtain geographic coverage of different regions of the State. The results showed that the profile of consumers of organic products in Paraíba can be traced as: Predominantly female, with a variable age group, without children, with a higher education level, with a family income between 1 and 2 minimum wages. These consumers purchase products mainly at organic fairs; vegetables and vegetables are the most consumed products; the criteria most observed at the time of purchase are quality, price and the absence of pesticides. Health stood out as the main reason that drives the purchase of organic food.
