Abstract:
The use of generators in actual distribution electrical systems is increasing
mainly due to the government incentives to the use of new power sources in the energetical
matrix of many countries. This increasing participation motivates the development of
methods which allow technical and economical evaluation of such kind of investment in
distribution networks. Thus, it is presented an algorithm for the allocation and sizing of
generators in radial distribution networks in order to maximize the reduction on the total
load supply costs. Additionally, it is given the operational schedule for each generator
installed, in all load levels of the feeder. The evolutionary programming is used as the
optimization technique. The applicability of the method was evaluated using a feeder with
high losses index and the proposed generators allocation provided a considerable reduction
on total costs.
