Science fiction magazines followed the evolution of the genre in question, being crucial for
its popularization in the field of literature. With regard to the representation of social
minorities, it is clear that this scenario of this genre has gone through a long period until it
has become more inclusive, strongly driven by political movements, with the greatest
influence being the Eras of Feminism. In Brazil, researchers separate the periods of science
fiction publications and themes by phases that they call “Waves of Brazilian Science Fiction”.
Our research notes that it is during the so-called Third Wave of Brazilian Science Fiction,
that the genre has a greater diversity both in characters and who writes them. Two of these
magazines stand out for their feminist content in the short stories: the magazines Trasgo and
Mafagafo. Therefore, the relevance of researching female productions in such magazines is
seen, considering the number of Brazilian authors who use these vehicles for publication, in
addition to the value of addressing the influence of a social movement such as the Fourth
Age of Feminism on conception of this phase of science fiction. Two short stories from each
magazine were selected as corpus. At Trasgo, there were the short stories “ O Que Sonham as
Pílulas”, by Aline Valek and “Felicitas Ex Machina”, by Alexandra Cardoso. In Mafagafo
magazine, the short stories “A Origem das Ideias Revolucionárias”, by Rúbia Dias and “Suor
e Silício na Terra da Garoa”, by Vanessa Guedes were chosen. Therefore, the following
questions arose: a) what are the defining marks of Brazilian science fiction stories written by
women in Trasgo and Mafagafo magazines? b) how many science fiction short stories were
written by women in the editions of the speculative fiction magazines Trasgo and Mafagafo?
c) what types of narrative themes are recurrent in the stories? d) How are the characteristic
elements of the science fiction literary genre inserted in the short stories? e) how did the
Fourth Age of Feminism influence the productions of science fiction stories from the
aforementioned digital magazines? The following research has a qualitative analysis with a
bibliographic procedure, as guided by Gil (2002). Some of our main theorists are: Pereira
(2005), Alves (2009), Causo (2013) and Roberts (2018), for the theme of science fiction;
Wittekind (2016), Santos (2016) and Silva (2019), for the theories of the Fourth Age of
Feminism; Ginway (2005) and Miranda (2019), for female writing. We conclude that the
Fourth Age of Feminism was decisive for the construction of the feminine scifi, bringing its
agenda to the narratives and making them the core of most stories.
