Abstract:
The purpose of this paper is to contextualize how suicide is reflected from theoretical
concepts and documents presented and also to contribute to fill existing gaps about
the theme within the scope of social work, ensuring current publications related to the
subject. The research is initially carried out using the bibliographic review technique,
which has bibliographies based on aspects concerning the specific discussion about
suicide. In addition to the theoretical perspective, a documentary research was
carried out to structure the present work. The work was divided into three chapters
for a better development of the theme. In view of the context presented in the study,
the need for suicide prevention actions in the State of Paraíba is evident, however, to
date, there is no instituted public policy in the region or in its municipalities aimed at
the state for that purpose. The Unified Health System (SUS) in the face of such
perspectives is a central element in the implementation and operationalization of
preventive measures against suicide and has carried out work in this area of suicide
in the country. The prevention projects created with the development of educational
campaigns, portraying the relevance of the theme, the importance of alertness and
early recognition when the person gives signs of signs of suffering and who is in
need of help at that moment are of great relevance for Paraibans. Therefore, in the
reports that we followed in newspapers by the virtual media in this study, this problem
is inserted, albeit in a timid way, in the production routine of the Paraiban
newsrooms, with a greater focus specifically, in the month of September.
