Abstract:
This paper, entitled The Ethical Political Project of Social Work in the Contemporary
Scenario: challenges and perspectives, seeks to analyze the threats and contemporary
challenges for the hegemony of the professional project of the category of social
workers, considering the debate within the profession about the supposed crisis that
this project has been experiencing. The choice of methodology was made through the
use of the dialectical critical method, as it allows the analysis of the bourgeois society
and its contradictions, being the nature of the qualitative research. In this work,
bibliographical research was used through books, magazine articles, websites, laws
and documents in physical and electronic media. The data found show that the
professional project of Social Work is not in a crisis of hegemony. However, it is
threatened and under tension because of the transformations brought about by the
capitalist crisis and its responses in an attempt to reverse patterns of accumulation.
This brought serious problems for the working class through the dismantling of social
rights, including the education policy, focusing on the professional training (one of the
elements that constitute the ethical political project) of social workers, making the main
threat and the The central challenge presented to the hegemony of the professional
project in contemporary times, is the massive expansion of distance learning courses
through the counterreform of higher education.
