Abstract:
The doctor has a fundamental role as to the practice of the act, in which he often has
the source power between the legal assets in conflicts, as well as the patient's right
to life, freedom, and wellbeing. Through technological advances in medicine, today
we can consider humanitarian practices, to minimize the pain and suffering of the
sick. Thus, a study approach, focusing on reflection, of these concepts and analysis
of the terms of euthanasia, distanasia and orthothanasia in Brazil. And in this context,
the work aims to evaluate the concepts that prevail in euthanasia, dysthanasia, and
orthothanasia existing in Brazilian legislation, concepts, typifications, and modalities
of each topic addressed. In this work, the qualitativedescriptive method was used as
the methodological process, in which articles and works related to the study theme
were selected, through bibliographic research on different platforms. However, the
concepts of euthanasia in Brazil and the vision of the Federal Council of Medicine
were defined, an acceptance of orthothanasia based on the Principle of Human
Dignity, as well as the debate of dysthanasia, concluding that it cannot be accepted
for hurting the mentioned principle and cause pain to the patient. As for euthanasia, it
is known that it is still considered prohibited in our country, being a controversial
subject and still very questioned. Measures before the legal system are to screw to
give the patient the right to life or a dignified death. In this way, we seek to
understand the concepts and things about the defined themes.
