Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to seriously think about "the persistence of the historical
reminiscence, which originated during the medieval times, in the solo sertanejo". Throughout History and Literature, we will talk about "A Pedra do Reino e o Principe do Vai-e-Volta", the famous work of Ariano Suassuna in a debate about the limits and uses of the literary language as a feature of methodological debate between History and Literature. During the research we will be analyzing this literary work.What we intend to do is discuss the, once medieval, ways of possession, altered and changed throughout time, and its use in the work of this writer Paraiba. What we analyze is the way those uncountable elements featured on the "Romance d'A Pedra do Reino" have medieval features deep within the “sertaneja” reality. Characters from the local culture, such as the "cantadores de viola", "cordealistas", "repentistas" and the medieval "cangaceiros", are some of the important characters in his work, a man from the Sertão built by way of medieval and sertanejos elements. During the early 60's, the city of Recife was living an effervescence of social movements and the debate around the "national reality" seemed to become a permanent issue in the debates amongst the matrices politicians and cultural debates. This paper will approach some of that debate in a dialog with the utopian schedule used by Ariano Suassuna in his Armorial writings. Throughout those writings Suassuna deals with the idea of a Brazil as part of a great intertextual fable e makes use of a repertoire of dreams, establishing an amazing begining, imagining, as if it were possible, a primordial order that would create the dreamed singularity by so many, and from so many different generations of Brazilian intellectuals.
