Resumo:
This report describes the activities developed by Daniel Xavier Silva, undegraduate
electrical engineering student at Federal University of Campina Grande, during his 660
hours Integrated Internship at Vsoft Tecnologia. The company focus is the development
of software related to face and fingerprint biometrics using digital image processing as a
tool. The activities developed on the internship were the investigation of the behavior of
fingerprint images in the frequency domain and the implementation of an algorithm that
selects a set of optimal frequencies and orientations to be used as parameters on the Gabor
filters in the enhancement algorithm. The internship enabled the student to get acquainted
with the area of fingerprint biometrics and apply concepts seen in undergraduate courses
in practical problems solving.
