Abstract:
Simulation software that uses numerical methods are widely used in engineering to describe
physical phenomena. In electrical engineering, the development of numerical tools such
as the Altair Flux have become essential for the development and study of electric fields
in rotor devices such as synchronous machines. In this report we have searched in the
biography information about the finite element method, a numerical discretization method
used by Flux 2018 and other softwares to describe the physical phenomena related to
magnetostatic, electrostatic and electrokinetic, as well as the theoretical foundation that
bases this broad field of study based especially in Maxwell’s equations. This report, from
then on, focused on the ambiance with Flux’s work platform and the elaboration of
a Portuguese user guide with images and details organized in a chronological way as
a way to facilitate and optimize the learning curve of those who will use Flux in the
future. Finally, we performed the geometric and physical description of a three-phase
synchronous machine at Flux in order to perform experimental simulations for direct
and quadrature axes determination and determination of machine parameters using the
frequency response method. This stage report concentrates on the theoretical basis and
results of the simulations.
