Resumo:
In this work we present perhaps the oldest global theorem in different geometry.
cial and is related to the following isoperimetric problem. Among all curves
simple closed in the plane with a given length l, which one limits the largest area?
The problem in this way was already known by the Greeks, who also knew their
solution, a circle. However, it took a long time for a
satisfactory proof for the fact that the circle is a solution to the isoperimetric problem.
It was not until 1870 that K. Weicrstrass gave complete proof of the existence of a
solution, which emerged as a corollary of a theory developed by him, in the area of
variational calculus. Later some more direct evidence was found. to what
presented here is due to E. Schimid (1939).
