Abstract:
Precipitation is a parameter of fundamental importance for the management for the study and understanding of precipitation. There are different setbacks regarding the studies that aim to characterize the precipitation regime in a given area, such as flaws in its historical records, low density, etc. Global precipitation measurement (GPM) Space mission launched in 2014 by NASA (National aeronáutics and Space Administration) and JAXA agencies ( Japan Aerospace exploration Agency) With the intention of estimating precipitation, With Spatial resolution of 0.1° x 0.1° . Through IMERG, A mission product which has data from deveral blended satellites. The present work studies the precipitation estimates from the GPM IMERGE of daily data and monthly daily averages compared to rainfall records from rainfall stations over the nineteen year period, in addiction to assessing the occurrence of rainfall in the Piancó- PB sub- Basin area. The comparison was acomplished using metric statistical parameters using the point-pixel methodology and With presentation of Spatial distribution of maps, graphs and tables. The Statistical results and graphs indicate overestimation of the satellite estimates; But It presents a good correlation in the central and North to south regions of the sub- basin, With less errors of overestimation over the area of the Piancó valley.
