Resumo:
This work focuses on Mathematics Education in the context of Solidarity Economy
and its aim isto understand some aspects of Ethnomathematics in the Solidarity Economic
Development o f the "Mulheres de Assis". Conceiving that Mathematics is an intrinsic
activity to the development of our daily tasks, the present work had as its purpose to
identify, in a first moment, the mathematical knowledge and the difficulties found by the
members of this enterprise in the deal with the mathematical knowledge. The theoretical
approach is based on the principies of Ethnomathematics and Solidarity Economy, also
bringing discussions on Youth and Adult Education, Women Empowerment and Self-
Management. The subject of the research is a group of women whose predominant
occupations are housewives and women farmers, with a low levei of schooling, who
present difficulties to complement the family income and do not have another profession
perspective. Residents of the rural settlement of Padre Assis in the municipality of
Sossego/PB and that constitute a Solidarity Development of Collective Creation of
Chickens. The methodology used is qualitative and is characterized as action-research,
and the data collection occurred through the participant observation and the unstructured
and semi-structured interviews. After analyzing the obtained data, it is possible to the
necessity o f a pedagogical approach in Mathematics in arder to seek the self-management
of the research subjects. The analyzes indicated that mathematical knowledge, based
mainly on the accomplishment of collaborative work and cooperation among the
members, present some difficulties faced by them and point to the need for a better
understanding of some mathematical knowledge used in the daily life of the enterprise.
However, there is a specific demand for Mathematics Education that refers to the
mathematical knowledge required to promote the self-management in the accounting item
of such enterprise, since its members need to appropriate themselves of inherent
mathematical knowledge in the activities they perform, which were partially presented
and left as a proposal through this study to be applied in the future.
