Resumen:
The High Voltage Laboratory (LAT, from Portuguese Laboratório de Alta
Tensão), belonging to the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG, from
Portuguese Universidade Federal de Campina Grande), is, in its specialty, the best
equipped laboratory in the North-Northeast of the country. Thus, it is an excellent place
to get experience in the area of Electrical Engineering, especially in the field of
Electrotechnical. The activities developed during the supervised internship were
performed in this laboratory. The internship took place between September and
November 2019. During the internship process, it was possible to participate in various
activities, involving electrical testing, reporting, provision of services to companies in the
electric sector, prototyping of a Metal Oxide Surge Arrester (MOSA) monitoring system
and training courses. Among the tests performed, the following stand out: testing with
live line equipment; typical tests for MOSAs; accelerated aging test of MOSA; and typical
insulator tests. To solidify the knowledge associated with each of the tests, reports were
prepared for each of these tests. Throughout the internship, activities to optimize a MOSA
monitoring system were performed, such as: tests performed in low and high voltage
laboratories. Regarding the insulator tests, each one of them was monitored. In addition,
activities aimed at professional training were offered by the laboratory, such as the
Regulatory Norm (RN) 10 course. Moreover, it was possible to perform field
measurements to construct a grounding mesh. Considering these activities, it was possible
to get practical experience from the Electrical Engineering area, in view of its contribution
to professional training.
