This work discusses an analysis mediated by a comparative study between the Romance d’A Pedra do Reino e o príncipe do sangue do vaievolta, of the writer Ariano Suassuna and his adaptation to the TV, in format of microseries, A Pedra do Reino, written by Luiz Fernando Carvalho, Luís Alberto de Abreu and Braulio Tavares, directed by Luiz Fernando Carvalho, transmitted by Rede Globo television, in 2007. Aiming to demonstrate how violence is represented in the process of adaptation of the novel to the microseries, we organize our criticalliterary analysis in three chapters. For this, we dialog with Hutcheon (2013) and Stam (2006,2008) to talk about the theory of adaptation; we brought Moisés (2012), making a comparison between literary and cinematographic languages; Bernardet (1980), Altermann (2010), Martin (2013), to treat specifically oh the cinematographic/audiovisual language; Gaspar (2009), to talk about the massacre of Pedra Bonita; Schøllhammer (2013), Nunes (2015), Ginzburg (2012), Wieviorka (1997) and Silva (2005), to account of the contextualization of violence; Victor and Lins (2007) for data on the life and work of Ariano Suassuna. Finally, as a result of our research, we understand that in the process of adaptation, the representativeness of violence in the excerpts of the novel and of the microseries that treat of the Third Empire of the Pedra do Reino, were effective enough to understand how much the two languages dialogue and how much they distance themselves at the same time. Revealing that each of them has its own way of telling and showing.
